Covert 50th anniversary
Richard and Violet Covert of Butler will celebrate 50 years of marriage with a trip to Colorado and Utah. Afamily dinner will be held upon their return.
The former Violet Lytle married Covert on July 29, 1956, at First United Methodist Church in Butler.
They have three children, David Covert of New Castle; Burtran Covert of Louviers, Colo.; and Dolores Kennedy of Prospect. Covert also has a son, Thomas Covert of Pembroke, Mass.
They also have eight grandchildren.
Covert retired from West Penn Power Company after nearly 39 years of service. He volunteers for Meals on Wheels and enjoys gardening and watching local sports teams.
Mrs. Covert is a former customer service representative at Clearview Mall and a former employee of J.C. Penney, Nationwide Insurance and Ohl Insurance Agency. She is also the former owner of Vi's Simplified Sewing. She currently serves as a volunteer in the Weir Room of the Butler Public Library and serves as a guest speaker, discussing her book, "The Map on Butler County, PA1858."
