2:27 p.m. Sunday — Christina Berry, 19, and Joseph Thomas, 19, both of Butler, were cited for retail theft after they were caught allegedly shoplifting at the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons.Saturday — A 14-year-old boy is accused of displaying a BB gun around several homes on Fairground Hill Road late at night. Police did not identify the boy, who was cited for disorderly conduct.Saturday — Mary Marzullo, 45, of Butler was cited for violating the township's burning ordinance in Meridian.8:36 p.m. Friday — Michelle Voelker, 33, of Butler was charged with trespass at the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons, where she was previously barred.11:15 a.m. Friday — Adam Osche, 19, of Butler is accused of hit-and-run after he backed his car into another vehicle parked at the Family Bowlaway on Fairground Hill Road, and then drove away.11:04 a.m. Friday — One person was hurt when a van driven by Margaret Tatsak, 60, of Butler rear-ended a car on North Eberhart Road at the rear entrance to the Moraine Pointe Plaza.The car, driven by Kimberly Scheller, 25, of West Sunbury, in turn was forced into the back of a pickup truck driven by Carl Feiereisen, 62, of Boyers. Scheller was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with an neck injury.12:06 a.m. Friday — A man wanted on a warrant was arrested after officers found him passed out in the Days Inn parking lot on Route 8 South.A search of the suspect, Mannon Rose, 21, of Butler also turned up suspected drugs. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant and faces new charges of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.2 p.m. June 30 — Shawn D. Schultz, 24, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Delwood Road. Schultz also was found with suspected drugs. In addition to DUI, he is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
June 30 — Police filed drunken driving charges against Curt A. Hauser, 45, of Sewickley, Allegheny County, stemming from a June 7 traffic stop at Mars-Valencia Road and Route 228.Hauser is charged with driving under the influence, a lane violation and making an improper left turn.June 30 — Kevin J. Garlicki, 22, of Forward Township was charged with theft by deception and bad checks for allegedly passing a bogus check for $600 to his landlord in April.Jackson Township PoliceJune 30 — Will T. Leavell Jr., 45, is accused of assaulting his live-in girlfriend, Jeanne Hardt, during a domestic dispute at their Route 19 apartment.Hardt said Leavell slapped her on the forehead and held his arm around her neck,Additionally, he allegedly threatened to kill Hardt and her two young daughters.Leavell is charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.June 29 — Augustine J. Dunn, 19, of Jackson Township faces drugged driving charges stemming from a traffic stop earlier this month.Police stopped Dunn for speeding on Route 19 on Route 19 near Freeway Lanes. The suspect's minivan also nearly struck a Jersey barrier.Suspected of being impaired by drugs, Dunn later failed a series of field sobriety tests. He was arrested and taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry for a blood test.Police on June 28 received the toxicology results, which showed the presence of amphetamine, the methamphetamine known as Ecstasy, and marijuana in Dunn's system.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, speeding and a lane violation.
Friday — Three people were arrested for driving under the influence during a roving patrol detail at night.In all, 99 vehicles were stopped, and in addition to the DUI arrests, officers issued 50 traffic tickets and 46 warnings. Other arrests include one each for drug possession and public drunkenness, and five each for disorderly conduct and nontraffic summary cases.
1:24 a.m. today — Try W. Thrower, 37, of Saxonburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 356 and Winfield Road in Winfield Township.6:25 p.m. Monday — A 20-year-old Washington County man and a 17-year-old West Virginia boy were caught after escaping from the Summit Academy detention center on Herman Road in Summit Township.Authorities captured the escapees near Stutz Road in Summit Township. Levi E. Cutshall of Washington was arraigned on a charge of escape and placed in the Butler County Prison. The boy, who police did not identify, faces a similar charge.12:15 a.m. Monday — Wayne E. McNutt, no age given, of West Sunbury was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Route 308 and Pry Road in Cherry Township.Saturday — A thief stole a mailbox and sign from a farm on Burtner Road in Jefferson Township. The victim, Ruth Wetzel, told police the 3.5-by-4.5-foot sign had the name of the farm on it. The theft happened between 5 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday.12:22 a.m. June 27 — Richard K. Artman Jr., no age given, of Buffalo Township was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Malone Road and Route 356 in Buffalo Township.
5:23 a.m. Saturday — A 1992 Suzuki LT4WD all-terrain vehicle was stolen from the yard of a home on Martin Road about one-quarter mile north of Shaffer Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
