2:31 p.m. Monday — An unidentified tractor-trailer hit a utility pole holding walk signs and struck and knocked over a traffic sign at Chestnut and Cunningham streets. Damage was estimated at $600.1:09 p.m. Thursday — Jeffrey E. West Jr., 31, of Butler was arrested after he was caught allegedly shoplifting $10 worth of bath care products from the Kmart store in Pullman Square. A search found him with four tablets of suspected hydrocodone, a prescription painkiller, according to a police report.Because he has more than two prior arrests for shoplifting, police said, West is charged with felony retail theft. Additionally, he is charged with possession of a controlled substance and defiant trespass because he was previously warned to stay out of the store.West was arraigned on the charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail. He also is being held on a probation violation.
7:27 p.m. Sunday — A Missouri couple was arrested after allegedly shoplifting headlights worth $96 at the Walmart in Butler Commons. Bradley Buckallew, 28, and Kaylee Long, 22, both of Brookfield, are charged with retail theft, conspiracy and receiving stolen property.The suspects were arraigned on charges and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail each.11:35 p.m. Saturday — Three people were hurt when a pickup driven by Devin J. Smith, 25, of Butler and a sport utility vehicle driven by Brenda Hunter, 50, of Seven Fields collided at Evans City and Eberhart roads.Three passengers in the SUV — Gloria Davidson, 65, of Mars; Bethanne Roberts, 18, of Fenelton; and Brandi Sobotka, 18, of Saxonburg — suffered minor injuries.Police cited Smith for careless driving and disregarding a flashing red light.
7:10 p.m. Monday — Maryann Capuzzi, 42, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and simple assault after she allegedly assaulted 19-year-old Chelsey Ann Rock of Butler at a home in Center Township and then drove away.Police stopped her in the area of North Eberhart and Greenwood roads in Butler Township.5:30 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Richard D. Simpson, 42, of Worthington, Armstrong County, struck a deer on Route 68 just west of Church Drive in Fairview Township.Monday — A thief or thieves stole copper ground wire and bars after cutting a hole in a fence to access a Verizon Wireless cell tower on Dinnerbell Road in Jefferson Township. The theft happened between March 1 and 12.Sunday — Someone damaged a mailbox at a Hillside Terrace Lane home in Jefferson Township. The vandalism occurred between midnight and 8:30 a.m.3:40 p.m. Friday — A minivan driven by Daniel J. Knox, 17, of Grove City and a sport utility vehicle driven by Dennis L. Christy, 64, of Slippery Rock collided at Branchton and Harmony roads in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Knox was cited for improperly entering or crossing a road.Friday — An unknown identity thief used a 75-year-old Venango Township man’s bank debit card information to make $500 in unauthorized purchases in Maryland.3:30 a.m. Thursday — Two boys are accused of breaking into a Clearfield Township home and stealing numerous electronic items, Xbox games, jewelry and a flat- screen television. The boys, ages 15 and 16, were found with the property stolen from the home on Dalmagro Road.The youths, who police did not identify, face burglary and theft-related charges in Butler County juvenile court.State Police, New Castle9:50 a.m. Friday — An unknown hit-and-run driver is being sought following a rear-end collision on Route 422 near Route 388 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.The crash happened when an unidentified Ford vehicle struck the back of a car driven by Abigail D. Knight, 28, of Harmony and did not stop.
