Thursday — Police charged Brandon S. Smith, 23, and Breeze Anne Hamersley, 25, both of Butler, with breaking into an East Jefferson Street apartment this week.The suspects between 11:30 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. Wednesday allegedly pried open a lock to get in.Matthew Barber, who owns the building, told police that Smith is the cousin of the former tenant at the apartment. Smith and Hamersley at some point had stayed at the apartment, according to court documents.Hamersley told police that she and Smith had gone inside the home Wednesday to look for some of their property. She claimed the door was unlocked.Smith and Hamersley are both charged with burglary and trespass.

3:29 p.m. Wednesday — One person was hurt in a three-vehicle vehicle collision at Route 356 and Hindman Road.The crash happened when Arthur McClearn, 48, of Butler failed to yield the right to another vehicle that Thomas Zelenski, 45, of Karns City was driving.Zelenski’s vehicle, in turn, struck a vehicle driven by Deborah Bush, 58, of Prospect. Greenwood Village volunteer firefighters had to extricate Bush from her vehicle. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.McClearn was cited for making an improper left turn and driving at an unsafe speed.3:10 a.m. Sunday — Clecy Thompson, 22, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he struck a vehicle parked on Bessemer Avenue three times.
