Oros, Seneca Valley roll past Perry

Connor Oros led three Seneca Valley players in double figures Saturday, scoring 18 points in the Raiders’ 71-35 boys basketball victory over Perry.

Andrew Roy netted 15 points and Esheza Okponobi 12 for SV. The game was part of the North Hills Tip-Off Tournament.

Alvin Johnson scored 18 points and Ahmad Arrington 15 for Perry.

Freeport 55, Valley 33 — The Yellowjackets outscored Valley 20-0 in the first quarter in rolling to this win. Brady Sullivan scored 17 points and Ben Lane 12 for Freeport.

Freeport dropped a 61-51 decision to Shady Side Academy Friday night. Sullivan scored 14 points and Lane 9. Eli Teslovich netted 30 for SSA.

Jacob Staraniec led Valley with 11.

Devon Prep 77, North Catholic 67 — Max Hurray paced the Trojans with 26 points — including five treys — but North Catholic fell behind 33-18 by halftime and could not make up the difference.

Andrew Maddalon scored 15 points and Matt Ellery 14 for North. Lucas Orchard netted 27 points and Jacen Hollway 20 for Devon Prep.

North Catholic 85, Monsignor Scanlan 71 — Hurray scored 30 points, including five treys, as the Trojans defeated this New York City-based opponent Sunday. Ellery scored 20 points and sank six treys.Maddalon scored 18 points.

Nasir Rodriguez scored 29 points for Monsignor Scanlan.

Mars 85, Meadville 51 — Tasso Sfanos exploded for 34 points as the Planets won big. Ryan Ceh chipped in with 12 and Remi Black scored 11.

Simmons led Meadville with 15 points.

Mohawk 57, Slippery Rock 55 — Dylan Gordon scored 18 points for the Rockets, sinking a pair of treys, but Slippery Rock came up short in this back-and-forth game. Slippery Rock took a one-point lead into the final quarter.

Jacob Wolak netted 10 points and Elam Pyle eight for the Rockets. Wrona netted 21 for Mohawk.

Girls Basketball

Alayna Rocco scored 21 points to lead North Catholic to a 53-35 triumph over Shaler. The Trojanettes jumped out to a 28-10 lead by halftime.

Dacia Lewandowski added 11 points in the win.

DuBois 39, Moniteau 30 — Alexis Pfcufin sank three treys in the first quarter and led DuBois with 16 points. Madison Rasnick added 13.

Catherine Kelly paced Moniteau with 13 points. Abbey Jewart added nine.

Meadville 42, Union 37 — A.Gallagher scored 17 points to lead Meadville to victory. Union managed only six points in the fourth quarter.

Ava Straser led Union with nine points, Harleigh Strauser adding seven.

Wrestling

Knoch competed in the 22-team Hickory Invitational Saturday and had two placers. Brayden McGowan finished eighth at 127 pounds and Wyatt Foster was eighth at 215 for the Knights.
