Wednesday — Police suspect that a red vehicle was responsible for two separate hit-and-run accidents just a block or so apart. It is not known if the same vehicle was involved in both crashes.In one accident, a car parked in front of a business in the 100 block of North Elm Street was hit between 7:10 and 8:15 a.m. The car's entire passenger side, including the mirror, was damaged on the car. A damage estimate was not unavailable.A van, in the other accident between 7:45 a.m. and 3:40 p.m., was hit while parked in front of a home in the 300 block of East Locust Street. The entire side of the van was damaged, which was estimated at $2,000.1:24 p.m. Sunday — Bruce Ealy, 27, of Butler was injured in a two-car wreck at North Main and Brady streets. Ealy was a passenger in a car driven by Eric R. Guntrum, 46, of Rimersburg, Clarion County, that collided with a car driven by Virgil A. Galante, 87, of Butler Township.Ealy, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.4:02 p.m. Feb. 6 — A car driven by Anita M. Sewald, 19, of Wexford rear-ended another car on South Main Street. Sewald told police that she was unable to avoid the accident when the other car stopped suddenly.The other driver, Susan K. Mallard, 41, of Butler, said she hit her brakes when she saw a man who she believed was going to step onto the road and into her lane.

11:44 p.m. Monday — A would-be burglary at a Jefferson Township car wash was aborted when the unknown suspect set off an alarm. No one got inside the Kristy Kleen Car Wash on Dinnerbell Road but a rear door was broken.It also appeared that the suspect attempted to drill through the padlocks on the machines at the business in a failed attempt to steal the money inside.Feb. 7 — More than $400 worth of copper tubing was stolen in a burglary at a home in the 200 block of Stoughton Beach Road in Slippery Rock Township. The break-in and theft happened between Jan. 1 and Feb. 7.
