Myrtle H. Galbreath Thompson, 88, of West Sunbury passed away at 10:17 a.m. Tuesday at her residence.

Born Jan. 9, 1920, in Winfield Township, she was the daughter of Harry Albert and Hattie Hulda Greer Galbreath.

She was a member of the West Sunbury Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Thompson, a registered nurse, graduated from the Citizens General Hospital School of Nursing in New Kensington. She also was the owner and operator, along with her late husband, of Thompson's Market in Boyers, Eau Claire and West Sunbury.

She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Mary Jane and Jack McDowell of Meridian and Roberta and James Wick of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons and their spouses, Francis "Butch" and Cindy Thompson of West Sunbury and Richard "Gus" and Marilyn Thompson of Eau Claire; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Roy (Harriet) Stalker of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Thompson, who died Feb. 28, 2000; her twin brother; and two sisters.

<B>THOMPSON</B> — Friends of Myrtle H. Galbreath Thompson, who died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wayne Bell, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
