Harry G. McElhaney

Harry G. McElhaney, 87, of Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg, formerly of Mar-Vel Drive in Butler, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Saxony Health Center.

Born July 1, 1921, in Sligo, he was the son of William D. McElhaney and Adda Saylor McElhaney.

Mr. McElhaney was a retired truck driver for Airco Industrial Gases.

He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church in Meridian.

Mr. McElhaney was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in Normandy, Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe and was the recipient of the Bronze and Silver stars.

Mr. McElhaney enjoyed classic cars and was a member of the Teamster Local 92, Canton, Ohio, and the A.A.R.P.

Mr. McElhaney is survived by his brother, Russell McElhaney and his wife, Darlene, of Latrobe; one brother-in-law, Dale E. Dunn and his wife, Karen, of Butler; three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Uber and Gloria Marte and her husband, Francis, of Butler, and Agatha Dunn of Illinois; two nieces; and six nephews.

Mr. McElhaney was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Dunn McElhaney, who he married June 6, 1946. She passed away Jan. 25, 2006.

<B>MCELHANEY </B>— Friends of Harry G. McElhaney, who died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Robert Peterson of St. John's Reformed Church officiating.
