Sara F. Dolmayer

Sara F. Dolmayer, 84, of Sarver passed peacefully Tuesday at home, surrounded by loving family.

Born Sept. 2, 1932, she was the daughter of Fred and Helen Hughes Fritch.

A 1950 graduate of Freeport High School, she received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Findlay in 1954 and earned additional graduate credits at the University of Michigan and Temple University.

First teaching at schools in Manor, Ohio, Freeport, Richland and Deptford, N.J., Sara retired in 1991 after 25 years as a science teacher at the Kiski Area School District.

Mrs. Dolmayer was a lifelong member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Sarver, where she proudly served in numerous positions, including as trustee, chair of the Administrative Board and the Pastor Staff Personnel Committee, and as a youth leader. She was a longtime member of the Light of Zion Sunday school class.

Sara was an avid reader, gardener and decorator, and she enjoyed needlepoint and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association, American Horticulture Association, Washington National Cathedral and Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Shick of Cabot and Beverly (Jack) Doerr of Sarver; her brother, Fred Fritch Jr. of Cabot; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael B. Dolmayer, who she married in 1959; and her parents.

DOLMAYER — A private family viewing will be conducted for Sara F. Dolmayer, who died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017. Services of celebration will be at noon Saturday at the Zion United Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, Sarver, with the Rev. Rob Wilson officiating.
