Robert Bott

PROSPECT — Robert Bott was named the 2012 Star Award recipient by Lifesteps at the organization's sixth annual Lifesteps Star Gala at the Atrium.

Bott participates in Lifesteps' Community Homes program with a dedication to make “everyday life” a reality for himself and his peers. He was honored for his self-determination and impact on his community.

The event raised more than $46,000 to benefit the Lifesteps Family Caring Fund.

Proceeds will support programs and services throughout Lifesteps' 10-county service area.

The Lifesteps' Early Education Centers in Beaver and Butler counties were recently awarded a grant from the Child Health Association of Sewickley for the purchase of 25 cribs that meet new federal safety standards and nine heavy-duty evacuation frames for use during emergency drills.The new cribs will help continue to ensure the highest quality of care and safety standards for all infant children attending the child care program offered at Lifesteps.

The Rotary Club of Butler, along with help from the Butler A.M. Rotary Club, raised more than $8,000 at the 53rd annual Rotary Election Day Pancake Festival to benefit Lifesteps.The 2012 event served more than 12,000 guests.Proceeds will help support local programs and services through the Lifesteps Family Caring Fund.

Butler County Pomona Grange 17 honored the following members for their service.From Donegal Grange, Marie Miller for 50 years and Norma Davis for 25 years.From Royal Grange, James Kennedy and Rita Kennedy, each for 50 years.From Unionville Grange, Helen Vogel for 55 years, Perry Ray for 50 years, Violet Ray for 50 years and Dorothy Bupp for 25 years.

Three Butler County residents were winners in the recent 2012 Syria Shrine Raffle.David Kennedy of Cabot won a 2012 Chevy Camaro. Betty Davison won $1,000 in cash, while Rich Kerr of Slippery Rock won $500.The Syria Temple in Cheswick raised more than $100,000 with this raffle with the proceeds going to Shrine hospitals.

Members of Lorraine Commandery No. 87 Knights Templar of Pennsylvania assisted at the VA Butler Healthcare Nov. 11 as a tribute to veterans on Veterans Day.
