Local home-schooled students finish 2nd in BEST Robotics competition

Last month, Western Pennsylvania students competed against 12 other high school robotics teams in the Grove City College gym, drawing BEST Robotics teams from New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

The team of Christian home-schoolers called itself FINS (Family Instructors of the Northern Suburbs f Pittsburgh) Robotics.

The team placed second overall in the competition, first in the category of “Marketing Presentation” and third in the category of “The Game.” The students have been meeting with their teammates and coaches three times a week since late August at the home of Aaron and Amy Farrey of Cranberry Township.

The team of 15 students and six coaches will head to Colorado the first weekend of December to compete in Golden, Colo., at The Colorado School of Mines against the top 24 teams from the eight BEST Robotics Hubs located in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Dakota.
