Farkleberry Craft Show returns to Cranberry

Fans of homemade goods won’t have to travel far to see the work of crafters and artisans from around Pennsylvania this weekend.

The annual Farkleberry Craft Show returns to the Cranberry Township Municipal Center on Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., bringing about 100 crafters together to show off and sell their handmade wares.

The event, sponsored by the Cranberry Women’s Club, is free. Vendors keep all of the profits from the sale of their products, but pay the club a fee to participate in the fair — money that goes back into Cranberry Township through the Women’s Club’s efforts, co-chair Marilyn Schroeder said.

A basket raffle and concessions sales also will benefit the club.

“Each one of the crafters is asked, as part of their space fee, to donate an item from their current inventory,” Schroeder said. “We create baskets out of what’s donated by the crafters and sell chances on that.”

Visitors are encouraged to park at St. Ferdinand Church - Divine Grace Parish during the event, due to ongoing construction in the Cranberry Township Municipal Center parking lot.

“(We have) jewelry, mittens, crocheted items, wooden items, painted slates, painted pictures, we have just a ton of all kinds of stuff,” Schroeder said.

The event took a break during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but had a good showing last year, she added, with upwards of a thousand visitors.

“We had a very successful show last year. We had 100 vendors again, and the shoppers, it was full,” said Schroeder. “The vendors were very happy with the turnout and their sales. We have a lot of new vendors this year, too.”

According to the Cranberry Women’s Club website, the club was organized in 1976 as a social, philanthropic and civic organization of women accomplished in career, family and community involvement. Through fundraising events, the group raises about $10,000 each year and donates all of it to local nonprofit organizations.
