A $10,000 check for the First Responders Memorial and Pavilion was presented to the Butler AM Rotary during the club’s fourth annual Ghosts & Giggles Funny fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 29.

Presenting the check from the Slippery Rock University Foundation was Dave Hollenbaugh, foundation executive director. The First Responders monument and shelter, located near the Odd Fellows Gazebo at Alameda Park, was dedicated Oct. 28.

The Butler AM Rotary worked on the project for about two years. Overseeing the project was Jeff Geibel, vice club president of the AM Rotary and Rotarian in charge, and Lisa Campbell, AM Rotarian and project chairwoman. Commissioner Kevin Boozel, AM Rotarian, brought the idea to the group.

Ghosts & Giggles, held at Vagabond Center in Lyndora, included dinner, a comedy show with three comedians, and costume contest. Rotarian Stuart Surkosky was event chairman. Funds raised will benefit the First Responders project as well as Rotary charities and annual giving.
