Flick

Donald J. Flick, 86, of Winfield Township died peacefully at 12:35 p.m. Saturday at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison Township. Mr. Flick is formerly of Buffalo Township.

Donald was born in New Kensington on Sept. 26, 1921, the son of Stephen J. and Sarah R. O'Donnell Flick.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a private 1st class in the 109th Field Artillery Service Battery, 28th Division at Normandy and Rhineland. After his service to his country, he went back to work for Alcoa Industries New Kensington as a machinist for the next 39 years, retiring in 1978. After his retirement, he went to work for Devereaux Chevrolet in Freeport as a dealer trade driver for 15 years.

Don was a life member of the Saxonburg VFW and a member of the Armstrong Lodge 239, New Castle Consistory and the Pittsburgh Shrine. He was a past officer for the Central Valley Credit Union in Arnold.

He enjoyed golfing, vegetable gardening, working outside at his home, traveling, watching the Steelers play and being with his family.Mr. Flick is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Mildred G. Hendricks Flick; his three daughters, Carol Olszewski and her husband, Anthony, of Bath, NY., Loretta Thompson and her husband, William, of South Buffalo Township, and Mindy Shearer and her husband, Bill, of South Buffalo Township; two sons, David Flick of Butler, and Randy Flick and his wife, Sue, of Buffalo Township; a sister, Martha Bright of Cannonsburg, Pa.; and a brother, Robert E. Flick and his wife, Joanne, of Upper Darby, Pa. Mr. Flick is also survived by his six grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his son, Robert S. Flick; and two sisters, Eleanor McNutt and Barbara Hoekema.

Bonnett officiating.
