BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College raised more than $14,000 during its second annual Bowling for Scholars event.

The BC3 Alumni Association hosted the event on Nov. 13 at Family Bowlaway in Butler, drawing in more than $14,500 and 200 participants, which is twice the turnout of last year’s fundraiser. The money raised will benefit the BC3 Alumni Legacy Scholarship, given to a child or grandchild of a former BC3 student.

The event is gaining in popularity since it can be done no matter the season and is fun for all ages, said Diane Marburger, member of the BC3 Alumni Association board.

In the 2015-16 academic year, BC3 has given about $280,000 in scholarships to its 5,300 students through the BC3 Education Foundation.
