Stephen Hagg’s single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Tyler DiMaria with the winning run in West Sunbury’s 9-8 victory over Valley in Butler County American Legion baseball play Wednesday.

DiMaria ended the game with a single, double and run scored. Winning pitcher Josh Stockert struck out seven and walked one to go with his pair of singles at the plate.

Meridian scored nine runs in the first three innings — highlighted by Drew Spangler’s first-inning grand slam — and held on to defeat East Butler 9-7 at Speed-O Field.

Spangler had two hits and five RBI on the night. Robert Stamm contributed two singles and two RBI.

Jake Koerner got the win on the mound.

Tanner Gilliland had three singles, Dustin Kepple two singles for East Butler. Derryn Oshe tripled and scored two runs.
