Dec. 28 — James H. White, 54, of Butler was charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after he allegedly broke into an apartment on North Washington Street and stole $22 in cash and about $1,500 in jewelry belonging to Teresa Weiland of Butler on Dec. 24. White allegedly told police he pried open the apartment door using a hammer. According to city police, if convicted, White will owe Weiland $522 in restitution for jewelry that could not be recovered, will owe Zeromax Gold LLC $210 in restitution for stolen gold he allegedly sold to the store and will owe the Scott-Stoughton Organization $100 for damages to the apartment door.
