March 25 — Police filed burglary and other charges against two men in connection with the break-in of a home on 106 Sunset Court.The suspects — David W. Eberhardt, 22, of Zelienople; and Joshua A. Jack, 22, of Harmony — are accused of breaking into a garage at Dewayne Majors' home between about 1:30 and 2:30 a.m. March 3. Majors is Eberhardt's grandfather, according to court documents.The suspected burglars allegedly stole two 5-gallon cans of gas. Majors immediately suspected his grandson, documents said.Police on March 7 spoke to Eberhardt at the Butler County Prison, where he was being held on charges in an unrelated case. Investigators said he confessed to breaking into Majors' garage and stealing the cans of gas.“He stated that he was going on a long trip and that is why he needed the gas,” a police affidavit said.Jack also allegedly admitted to the crime.Both suspects are charged with burglary, conspiracy, trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and loitering or prowling at night.

Monday — Police filed drugged driving charges against Vincent E. Simpronio, 55, of Muddy Creek Township stemming from an investigation that began as a rolling domestic dispute about 10:05 p.m. Feb. 23 on Route 19 across from Cal's General Store in Portersville.Troopers found Simpronio in his car when they got there. They also noticed a suspected drug pipe in the car's center console.While talking with the defendant, they suspected he was high on drugs. A police drug recognition expert evaluated Simpronio and confirmed those suspicions.He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results later determined he had drug depressants in his system, according to court documents.Simpronio is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.State Police, FranklinMonday — About $6,000 worth of steel was stolen from the Devonian Resource energy company storage facility on President Road in Pinegrove Township in Pinegrove Township.The stolen items included 800 to 1,000 feet of 2-inch steel and 25 feet of 6-inch steel. The theft was discovered Monday.

9:45 p.m. Monday — Jonathan Z. Ferguson, 19, of Freeport is accused of “egging” 37-year-old Lorraine Ferguson's house and vehicle in the 300 block of South Second Street in Apollo. A police news release did not indicate the relationship between Ferguson and the victim. Police said he is charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.1:28 a.m. April 3 — One person was hurt in a four-vehicle wreck in Worthington.The crash happened when Nathan J. Lash, 33, of Kittanning lost control of his sport utility vehicle on Main Street and struck an unoccupied SUV that was parked on the side of the road. The impact caused a chain-reaction accident with two other unoccupied vehicles that were parked in front of the SUV that was initially struck.Lash, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was taken to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township. Police said he was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
