Wednesday — Police reported a 25-year-old Shelocta man is suspected of stealing a credit card and currency from a 91-year-old woman's home on Shoup School Road in South Bend Township. The theft happened Dec. 8.The suspect, who police did not identify, later used the credit card to make more than $1,100 in fraudulent purchases at a department store in Indiana, Pa. Police said their investigation continues.12:30 a.m. Tuesday — A van driven by Ronald L. McCombs, 67, of Hubbard, Ohio, struck a deer on Route 422 in North Buffalo Township.Tuesday — Someone between 12:01 and 7 a.m. damaged a mailbox in the 1100 block of Ridge Road in Pine Township.10:30 p.m. Jan. 6 — An unknown thief stole an unspecified amount of scrap aluminum from a 75-year-old woman's home on Route 156 in South Bend Township.
Jan. 10 — Police cited Rebecca M. Mittelmeier, 21, of Sandy Lake for allegedly shoplifting a pair of boots Jan. 3 from the Famous Footwear store at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township. Mittelmeier is charged with retail theft.
12:57 a.m. Jan. 9 — Chas R. Boots, 26, of Portersville was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car crashed into an embankment and landed on its roof on Portersville Road just north of Van Gorder Mill Road in Perry Township.Boots, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. In addition to DUI, he faces unspecified traffic violations.Jan. 8 — Someone broke two windows of a home on Copper Road in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The vandalism happened between Jan. 3 and 8.
