Brian Scott Flick
Brian Scott Flick, 36, of Butler, passed away Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital while surrounded by his family. Brian died of complications from pneumonia after a 15-year battle with epilepsy.
Born in Butler, Sept. 5, 1971, he was the son of Frederick V. and Rose Marie Cavalero Flick.
He was a member of the Butler High School Class of 1990, and he graduated with his degree in photography from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1992.
In addition to his passion for black-and-white photography, Brian loved playing the guitar and the harmonica.
Brian traveled as a faithful follower of the Grateful Dead, and he celebrated his love of music with his many friends while enjoying other bands, such as Phish and the Hypnotic Clambake, to name a few.
Brian was employed at Sierrina Pizza, Terrapin Trading, and the Medicine Shoppe before becoming ill.
Family life was always the center of his world. He enjoyed hunting with his dad and his brother, Daniel. He spent many wonderful days camping with his mom and dad at Erie and Pymatuning. Family holidays were enjoyed at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Stacey and Derek, and often celebrated with picnics. Brian especially liked spending time with the children.
Brian was a shooting star whose path was short but extremely bright. May he stay forever young.
He was always giving and caring; and in death, he donated his eyes so that others would be able to see the world as he saw it.
He was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his parents, Frederick V. and Rose Marie Cavalero Flick; three sisters: Denise Streitman and her husband, Francis, of Kansas, and their children, Jennifer, Jill, and Joshua and their families; Michele Shera and her husband, William, of Clintonville, and their children, Patti Jo Moore and family and Jessica Shera; and Stacey Bowman and her husband, Derek, of Butler, and their children, Jason D.
