Marmon/Keystone service center workers with the United Steelworkers Local 8042-01 have ratified a 5-year contract.

According to a company news release, the new contract includes a wage and benefit package for the 18 warehouse workers employed at the Butler location.

District Manager Lou Grenci stated, “We are pleased that we have been able to reach a 5-year agreement. This commitment between Marmon/Keystone and the union will keep us competitive in the marketplace and focused on customer service.”

CRANBERRY TWP — The Westinghouse Electric Co. has announced that the Toshiba Corp., Westinghouse's owner, has bought 20 percent of the ownership stake held by the Shaw Group.This buy by Toshiba increases its ownership to 87 percent of Westinghouse.Shaw's decision to exercise its option to sell its stake in Westinghouse to Toshiba is based on the contractual terms between Shaw and Toshiba.Kazatomprom and IHI hold 10 percent and 3 percent stakes in Westinghouse, respectively.

WASHINGTON — Americans borrowed more money in July than any other month in more than three years. But they cut back on using their credit cards.Consumer borrowing rose nearly $12 billion in July, the Federal Reserve said Thursday. Greater demand for school and auto loans fueled the increase. A category that measures credit card use fell in July after large increases in May and June.Total consumer borrowing increased to a seasonally adjusted annual level of $2.45 trillion. That’s barely 2 percent above the four-year low reached in September.The increase in loans was largely because of a pickup in auto sales, said Troy Davig, senior U.S. economist at Barclays Capital. The March 11 earthquake in Japan caused a global parts shortage that left many auto dealers without popular models this spring.The supply chain disruptions have eased in recent months.
