Dorothy Pakutz

Dorothy Pakutz, 95, of Lyndora died Saturday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born Oct. 11, 1920, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas Burka and Mary (Mechanic) Burka.

She was a homemaker and during World War II had worked at the Shell Shop in Butler. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora, the Ladies Guild at the church and had made Pirohi for her church.

She enjoyed bingo, gambling, traveling and being with her family and grandchildren.

Surviving is her son, Dennis M. Pakutz of Butler; her daughter, Teresa (William) Wyant of Meridian; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Nicholas Burka of Lyndora; her sister, Genevieve (Paul) Tarcha of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael “Major” Pakutz, who she married Oct. 11, 1941, and who died Oct. 17, 1998; her daughter, Nancy Pakutz, who died in 2007; and one brother, one sister and two great-grandchildren.

PAKUTZ — Friends of Dorothy Pakutz, who died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora. The Rev. Paisius McGrath, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.Parastas services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
