Hazel L. Seaton Gilson, 102, formerly of West Washington Boulevard, Grove City, died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday at the Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City.

Born in Albion, July 9, 1904, she was the daughter of Elmer and Gwendolin DavisSeaton and moved to Grove City when she was 12.

As a young girl, she enjoyed riding on the Bessemer &Lake Erie Railroad with her father, who was a conductor.

Mrs. Gilson is a graduate of Slippery Rock University, where she earned a teaching certificate, and she received a music degree from Grove City College. She had been an elementary teacher in Forestville from 1924 to 1928 and also taught in Zelienople for two years. After raising hers sons, she became a second grade teacher in Mercer until she retired.

She was a charter member of the Tower Presbyterian Church in Grove City, where she was a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher and secretarial aide. She also was a member and had held several offices of the Gen. Hugh Mercer Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a former member of the Lady Lions Society and the Mercer County Retired Teachers Association.

Surviving are a son, David S. Gilson of Grove City; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Her husband, David Weir Gilson, whom she married June 11, 1930, died Nov. 10, 1970. She also was preceded in death by a son, George W. Gilson.

Seaton Gilson, who died Saturday, April 14, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Cunningham FUNERAL HOME</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery, Grove City, PA.
