Jason A. Gettman
Jason A. Gettman, 38, of Zelienople passed away suddenly Saturday in Evans City.
Jason was born October 2, 1978, in Ellwood City, the son of John “Jack” E. Gettman and the late Judith L. Gettman. He grew up in Evans City, Pa., and spent much of his childhood adventuring in the woods, riding dirt bikes, leaving it in the soap dish and playing video games with his brothers, neighbors and friends.
He picked up the guitar at a young age and immediately had a natural gift for it, which he continued to display throughout his life, learning many songs from the vast array of music that he loved so much. While being a gifted musician he picked up and immediately excelled at playing the drums, much in the same way he had always done on the guitar.
Jason attended Seneca Valley High School and with a ridiculously high level of charisma, made friends almost everywhere he went. In addition to becoming a Jedi, formerly known as Jace Windu “Master of the Schwartz,” he went on to become a skilled arborist, overcoming a childhood fear of heights to scale the most massive of trees and bring them swiftly to the ground, precisely where he planned.
Jason had the most insane sense of humor on a level that most human beings could not comprehend; he was absolutely hilarious and could always lighten up a mood or liven up a party with a flick of his fancy golden pony tail.
He was very well loved and will be sorely missed by his brothers, family and many who were fortunate enough to have known him.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his brother, John William “Bill” Gettman and Elien Ghekiere, of Belgium; his brother, Jeffrey Lee Gettman; his sister-in-law, Kate Gettman; his niece, Kayley Gettman; his nephew, Chase Gettman of Butler; and his daughter, Mylie Hake of Evans City.
