2:44 p.m. Sunday — Two teenagers were hurt when they were thrown off the all-terrain vehicle they were riding after a crash along Kittanning Street.Patrick Bloom, 16, of Oakland Township, the driver, and Sierra Walbert, 15, of Butler Township, a passenger, were taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.The teens, both wearing helmets, had been riding next to railroad tracks on Kittanning Street, police said. Bloom told police that later he and another ATV driver raced around the lot of Greco Gas Inc. on Kittanning Street.Bloom said the vehicles collided head-on, throwing him and Walbert off their ATV. The other vehicle, Bloom said, drove away east on Kittanning Street after the crash. Police have not identified the other ATV.Bloom was cited for operating a vehicle on property without the owner's permission.
11:14 a.m. Saturday — Vehicles driven by Jason A. Parker, 28, of Ellwood City and Dorothy M. Paytas, 77, of Renfrew collided at Whitestown and Woodlawn roads. Parker was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Police said Paytas was cited for a stop sign violation.2:29 a.m. Thursday — Brian Anderson, 40, of Kennerdell, Venango County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Route 8 South.10:47 p.m. Oct. 6 — Justin A. Dean, 23, of Ambridge, Beaver County was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct after officers allegedly saw him urinating in the parking lot of Lyn-Mar Plaza.7:14 p.m. Oct. 1 — Diamond McCracken, 29, of Butler was caught shoplifting food and eating the items at the Wal-Mart in Butler Commons, according to a police report. Police said McCracken is charged with retail theft.
Tuesday — An undetermined amount of money was taken in a break-in at Filer Auto Body on Breckenridge Street. The burglary happened between Monday night and 6 a.m. Tuesday.
9:53 p.m. Monday — Tara Cochran, no age given, of Pittsburgh was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment after she was stopped for speeding on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said a 2-year-old child was riding in Cochran's car, which was clocked going 96 mph on the road with a posted 65 mph limit.
Tuesday — Brandon M. McGuire, 21, of Kittanning was arrested on charges that he broke into an East Franklin Township home Nov. 17. McGuire was arraigned on charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief, and placed in Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail.State Police, New Castle12:22 p.m. Saturday — Erin M. Griggle, 40, of Ellwood City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash on Route 65 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
Tuesday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Christopher Lee Cable, 23, of Franklin, Venango County, who is accused of passing a check for $1,365 written on a closed account Sept. 24 to buy a television at the Sears store in Pine Grove Square in Pine Township. Cable is charged with theft by deception and bad checks.4:48 p.m. Monday — Two Canadian men were hurt when their car sideswiped a guardrail after hitting a deer on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township.The driver, Muhammad A. Rana, 58, of Ontario, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries. A passenger, Muhammed Junaid, 26, of Ontario, suffered minor injuries. Police said both men were wearing seat belts.2:57 p.m. Sunday — Ralph A. Cogswell, 52, of Mercer was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 173 north of Airport Road in Pine Township.11:30 a.m. Thursday — A Greene County trucker was cited for hit-and run, police said, after his rig hit a 20-foot lamp post in the Huntington Bank parking lot in Pine Township. Police said Stephen Ferenz, 69, did not stop after his tractor-trailer backed into and damaged the post.4:30 p.m. Oct. 6 — A car driven by Jamie L. Palumbo struck a ditch and a drainage pipe along North Liberty Road in Liberty Township, mercer County.
