Leonard J. Sassone
Leonard John Sassone, 89, of Elliott Drive died Friday at 1:35 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 9, 1920, in Butler, he was the son of John Sassone and Vencenza Cavalero Sassone.
Mr. Sassone was an expediter in the paint shop at Pullman Standard for 34 years until the plant closed.
He was a member of the North Main Street Church of God. Mr. Sassone was a member of the Keenagers Sunday School and a former usher. He was also a former member of the Young Men's Christian Association and the United Commercial Travelers. Mr. Sassone was an avid sports fan, especially for the Steelers. He enjoyed gardening and canning.
Mr. Sassone is survived by his wife, Esther Herr Sassone, who he married June 9, 1955; his three sons, John Carl, Braden Lee and his wife, Kendee Kay, and Edward Paul, all of Butler; his six grandchildren; his three great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sassone was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

North St., Butler, on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be at the North Main Street Church of God on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Revs. David Brown and Ken C.
