FIVE SPOTDrew Stanton set a school record with five touchdown passes and finished 20-of-26 for 259 yards as No. 17 Michigan State beat Illinois 61-14. The Spartans' points total was their highest since scoring 76 against Northwestern in 1989, and their offensive output of 705 yards set a Memorial Stadium record for total yards by an Illinois opponent. ... Jeff Mroz tied a Yale record with five touchdown passes, leading the Bulldogs to a 37-17 win over Cornell in the Ivy League opener for both teams. Mroz, who went 18-of-31 for 314 yards, matched the mark set by Pete Doherty in a 44-21 win overt Columbia in 1966.

POINT-BY-POINTTaurean Henderson, the NCAA's active leader in touchdowns, ran for 141 yards and three touchdowns to help No. 19 Texas Tech beat Indiana State 63-7. Henderson, whose first scoring run made him the Red Raiders' career leader in touchdowns and points, finished the game with 55 touchdowns for 330 points. James Gray had 52 touchdowns and 312 points from 1986-89.

PROLIFIC PASSERD.J. Shockley passed for a career-high 312 yards in his first career road start, leading No. 7 Georgia past Mississippi State 23-10. Shockley also set career highs with 20 completions and 33 attempts despite gusty, hurricane-related wind and occasional showers. His previous bests of 289 yards passing and 16 completions were set four weeks ago in a win against Boise State.SURE WYNNDeShawn Wynn became the first player in Florida history to record two four-touchdown games in the No. 5 Gators' 49-28 win over Kentucky. Wynn, who last accomplished the feat in a 2003 win over Florida A&M, caught Chris Leak's first touchdown pass and also scored on three short runs.DUCK AND COVERTop-ranked USC won its 25th straight, with Matt Leinart throwing for 315 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-13 victory over No. 24 Oregon. The Ducks jumped out to a 13-0 lead and clung to a 13-10 halftime advantage.BADGEREDWisconsin beat No. 14 Michigan 23-20 to tie its modern-day mark of nine straight home wins - its first such streak since the early 1960s. The victory snapped the Wolverines' 23-game winning streak in Big Ten openers and sent them to just their second loss in their last 38 conference openers, the last also to the Badgers.TASKMASTERMichael Robinson became the first Penn State player to reach 1,000 career yards rushing and passing with an 8-yard touchdown run in a 34-29 win over Northwestern. Last week, the Tigers lost 36-30 to Miami in triple overtime. ... Robert Morris led 28-7 late in the third quarter before Rowan rallied to beat the Colonials 35-28 in overtime. Ulysses Encarnacion's 3-yard touchdown run completed the stunning comeback. ... WVU Tech's 82-7 loss to Glenville State was the program's worst defeat in its 86-year history. The Pioneers were only up 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, but followed with 72 straight points and finished with 664 yards of total offense. The 75-point margin beat the previous low, a 71-0 loss to West Liberty in 1927.STREAKINGThe nation's third-longest Division I-A winning streak was snapped when South Florida beat No. 9 Louisville 45-14.
