SLIPPERY ROCK — There will be a spring blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert E. Smith Student Center’s third-floor ballroom on the Slippery Rock University campus.
Sponsored by Paranormal Rocks and Miss Butler County Le Ann Penn, all participating donors will receive a pair of flip-flops.

SARVER — Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 678 Sarver Road, will have rummage and bake sales from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 6 and May 7.
[naviga:h3]Nurse to discuss Lyme disease[/naviga:h3]
SAXONBURG — Because Butler County has some of the highest instances of tick bites and Lyme disease in the state, the South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St., will host Nurse Bonnie from the Butler County Board of Health at 6 p.m. May 10.
She will share what people need to know about Lyme disease treatment and prevention.
The event will be free. Refreshments will be served afterward.
[naviga:h3]Preventing falls topic of workshop[/naviga:h3]
JEFFERSON TWP — “Healthy Steps for Older Adults,” a fall prevention workshop, will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 18 at the Concordia Haven I Dining Room, 112 Marwood Road.
Participants will learn about risk indicators such as alcohol use, medications, shopping and eating habits, as well as bathroom and kitchen safety, foot care and footwear and balance basics.
The event is free and open to first-time Butler County residents age 50 and older.
Each attendee will receive a comprehensive 64-page guide. Lunch will be provided. Participants will be eligible for a prize drawing.
Registration is required by May 13. To register, call the Butler County Area Agency on Aging at 724-282-3008.
