Wednesday — Police reported that a 14-year-old Butler boy was charged in juvenile court with forgery for allegedly attempting to pass a counterfeit $20 bill to a clerk at a West Jefferson Street convenience store.
Wednesday — A life-sized, black-and-white fiberglass pig decoration, valued at $550, was stolen from 1021 New Castle Road in Franklin Township. Keith Whittenbeger of Prospect owns the stolen property taken between 9:30 a.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.Wednesday — Two fishing poles and a tackle box were taken between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from a vehicle at a Purvis Road home in Franklin Township. Kevin Wolf of Butler owns the property.A second car, owned by Paula Wolf of Butler, at the same home, was ransacked; however, nothing was apparently taken.10:30 p.m. Tuesday — Police cited Daniel Huffman, 22, of Evans City for allegedly using obscene language and gestures at passing motorists as he walked on the side of Route 68 near Brownsdale Road in Forward Township.Huffman told police he took the action because he was mad that none of the drivers stopped to give him a ride. He is charged with disorderly conduct.7:37 p.m. Tuesday — Vehicles driven by Kimberly Vinroe, 42, and John Lasichak, 58, both of Butler collided at Green Manor Drive and Saxonburg Boulevard in Jefferson Township.Both drivers and a passenger in Lasichak's vehicle, Karin Lasichak, 58, of Butler, suffered minor injuries; all were wearing seat belts. Vinroe was cited for a stop sign violation.7:40 a.m. Tuesday — Cars driven by Joseph Tomasovic, 77, of Butler and Louis Francescon, 79, of Verona, Allegheny County, collided on Mercer Road in Center Township. The crash occurred in front of the Center Township Elementary School.Tomasovic suffered minor injuries; Jo Ann Tomasovic, 76, of Butler, a passenger in his car, suffered moderate injuries; both were wearing seat belts.Francescon and a passenger in his car, Phillip Walsh, 54, of Oakmont, Allegheny County, suffered moderate injuries; neither was wearing a seat belt.6:45 a.m. Tuesday — Acar driven by Jason Ewing, 20, of Butler hit a utility pole at Route 68 and Main Street in Connoquenessing, and rolled over several times. Ewing, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.3 a.m. Tuesday — Jonathan Rich, 20, of Sarver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck a utility pole along Cornplanter Road near Moorehead Road in Winfield Township. The pole and power lines were knocked down by the wreck.Rich, who was not wearing a seat belt, was treated for moderate injuries at Butler Memorial Hospital.Monday — Numerous hand tools were stolen between Friday and Monday from a job site at the Chestnut Grove Condominiums development in Franklin Township. E&E Enterprises of Butler owns the stolen property.12:25 p.m. Friday — Asport utility vehicle driven by Sherry Grey, no age given, of Slippery Rock struck a utility pole along Route 528 in Franklin Township. Police cited Grey for careless driving2 p.m. June 7 — Acar driven by Patricia Giese, no age given, of Renfrew struck the rear of a minivan that was stopped on Route 68 in ForwardTownship. Vickie Schnebel, no age given, of Evans City was driving the van.Giese, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated for minor injuries at UPMCPassavant Cranberry. Police cited her for driving too fast for conditions.
June 5 — A Butler woman, who police did not identify, is suspected of charging more than $31,000 on credit card accounts she fraudulently opened using the Social Security number of Tammy Sell of Ford City, Armstrong County. Police continue to investigate the identify theft case that dates back to November.
