Knoch High School juniors Victoria Greenawalt and Aryanna Napora were selected to participate in the Westinghouse Science Honors Institute, where students attend 12 Saturday morning lectures on science and engineering and network with professionals to gain career insight.

Nikki Ambrose, a Knoch High School senior, has been named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. The program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. High school students enter the National Merit program by taking a test and meeting participation requirements.

Knoch High School senior Carmyn Lilley and junior Justin Tristani were chosen to serve as student representatives at the Knoch Knights Legacies Foundation meetings for the current school year. They will provide input on grant requests, allocations and outcomes. They will also share foundation information with their classmates and gain insight from other students that will help steer the foundation’s fundraising and planning.

Knoch High School teacher Lisa Knappenberger’s anatomy and physiology classes are conducting a drive for the victims of Hurricane Florence. Blankets, travel size shampoo and conditioner, body wash, bars of soap, combs, brushes, fingernail clippers, personal wipes, diapers, formula, underwear and socks are being collected.

Six South Butler School District students were chosen as October’s representatives in the Sixth Grade Superhero program. They are: Lindsay Mack for good judgment, Karlee Buterbaugh for honesty, Natalya Cafasso for perseverance, Kody Schubert for respect, Kevin Justi for responsibility, and Kaden Spencer for self-discipline.

Each student received a certificate and superhero T-shirt, and had lunch in teacher Lisa Knappenberger’s classroom.
