Marvin E. Wimer, 76, formerly of Panther Springs Road, Emlenton, Richland Township, Venango County, died of natural causes at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his daughter in Woodbridge, Va.

Mr. Wimer was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Butler. He was the son of John H. and Lavina Ferringer Wimer.

He was a 1954 graduate of Butler High School.

He was a Protestant, and he enjoyed the outdoors, especially canoeing and hunting. He was an avid train collector and enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed a good conversation over a cup of coffee at the Emlenton Truck Plaza. He especially enjoyed being a great dad and grandpa.

Mr. Wimer was a U.S. veteran, having served in the Marine Corps. He was a member of the Parker City-Allegheny Valley Masonic Lodge 521 F&AM, the Venango Lodge of Perfection and the Consistory, Valley of New Castle.

He retired after many years at the Quaker State Refining Corp. in Emlenton.

Surviving are three daughters and four grandchildren, Lisa J. Wimer of Pittsburgh and grandson, Braden K.; Laurel A. West and her husband, Mack, of Woodbridge, Va., and granddaughter, Hayley C. Hackett of Frederick, Va.; and Lynnette S. Burns and her husband, Kevin, of Bethlehem, Pa., and grandchildren, Christian R. and Grace K. A sister survives, Rita S. Uber, of Orange Park, Fla.; along with a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Wimer.

<B>WIMER</B> — Friends of Marvin E. Wimer, who died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Hile Funeral Home</B>, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lori Danielson, pastor of Emlenton Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Emlenton Cemetery.The Parker City¿Allegheny Valley Lodge 521 F&AM will conduct memorial services at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S.
