Gallagher 60th anniversary
Edward and S. Irene Gallagher celebrated 60 years of marriage recently with a family dinner at the home of their granddaughter in Zelienople.
The former Sara Irene Shockey married Gallagher on Feb. 5, 1948, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Cumberland, Md.
They have six children, Helen Daubenspeck of Greer, S.C.; Sally Birckbichler of Volant; Thomas Gallagher and Clarence Gallagher, both of Greenville, S.C.; Ann Coggins of Spartanburg, S.C.; and Robert Gallagher of Branchton. Two children, James Gallagher and Agnes Gallagher, are deceased.
They also have 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Gallagher is retired from Lava Crucible Refractories, where he worked as a machinist. He belongs to the Knights of Columbus and the VFW.
Mrs. Gallagher is a retired Beautician and school bus driver.
The couple belongs to St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock, where Mrs. Gallagher is a member of the Christian Mothers group. They also belong to the AARP and the American Legion.
