Falcon Knights win opener at home, 27-14
Union/A-C Valley scored two touchdowns in the first quarter on fourth-down plays -- a 6-yard pass from Brody Dittman to Ryan Cooper and a 10-yard run by Zach Cooper — on its way to a 27-14 football victory over Cameron County.
The scores gave the Falcon Knights an early 14-0 lead. Maddox Baughman scored on a 4-yard run for Cameron County to make it 14-6, but Dawson Camper returned the ensuing kickoff 73 yards for a TD for a 21-6 lead.
Mikey Card scored on a 16-yard pass from Dittman with five second left in the half for a 27-6 lead.
Union/A-C Valley had just one first down in the second half. Cameron County closed the lead to 27-14 on a 1-yard run by Baughman with 40 seconds left in the third quarter.
Cameron County outgained Union/A-C Valley 215-157. The Falcon Knights had just 34 yards rushing.
Dittman was 10 of 15passing for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Skyler Roxbury caught four passes for 42 yards. Mikey Card led the Falcon Knights with 16 yards on nine carries.
Baughman was 8 of 19 for 130 yards and an INT. He was sacked four times.
Camper missed the second half with a leg injury, not considered to be serious.
St. Marys 47, Moniteau 14
Hunter Stalker rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown for the Warriors, who struggled in the passing game. Freshman Cole Scott rushed for Moniteau’s other score.
Moniteau turned the ball over five times — three interceptions and two fumbles. The Warriors threw for only 15 yards.
Matt Martino led the defense with nine tackles, including three for loss, and a quarterback sack.
Slippery Rock 37, General McLane 20
Quarterback William Mokel threw first-half touchdowns to both John Sabo and Eli Anderson in this one. Sabo also broke a school record witha 98-yard kickoff return for a score, pinning up the points that put this one out of reach for the host Lancers.
North Catholic 37, Serra Catholic 14
Samir Ware and Jason Siket both scampered for touchdowns and the Trojans blanked the Eagles in the first half on the road. Chase Arrington also ran for a touchdown.
