Climate change is real
Recently, you published a letter skeptical of the overwhelming scientific consensus on climate change. The letter contains several claims that are demonstrably false, including a claim that NOAA graphs show the national average temperature is falling (they don’t, and it isn’t). The fact is that 9 of the 10 hottest years on record all came in the last 10 years. Anyone who has lived here long enough knows that summers are getting hotter and winters are getting milder.
Unfortunately, there is an entire disinformation industry on climate change funded with millions of dollars from the oil and gas companies, very similar to the “experts“ from tobacco companies who testified for many years that cigarettes don’t cause cancer and heart disease.
Your letter writer probably got his “facts” from industry shills like the Heartland Institute, who are paid to sow confusion and disinformation.
