The planned arraignment for a suspected narcotics trafficker was canceled Monday when he had to be removed from a Butler courtroom because of an outburst.

The defendant, Taalibe A. Glover, 23, of Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, began yelling his displeasure with a decision by District Judge William Fullerton.

After being taken to a conference room in back of the courtroom, authorities said, the defendant started banging his head against a wall. Glover's antics earned him a quick return to the Butler County Prison, where his unruly behavior continued.

Authorities said he damaged a prison elevator with more head banging. Glover was eventually taken to the behavior modification unit and confined to a padded cell. Glover has been in the prison on $100,000 bail since Oct. 10, when he was arrested after allegedly selling heroin to a police informant at the Greater Butler Mart in Butler Township.

But he was not immediately charged for that sale conducted by the Butler County Drug Task Force. Instead, he was arraigned in connection with a task force drug buy Sept. 7 in Butler.

Glover was in district court Monday for a preliminary hearing for the previous case, in which he is accused of selling 49 stamp bags of suspected heroin to an informant on West Brady Street.

Following testimony Fullerton ordered Glover held for trial on felony charges of delivery and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance

Soon after the ruling came Glover's outburst.

County Detective Tim Fennell, who heads the Butler County Drug Task Force, was in the courtroom and got a near front-row view of the defendant's emotional exhibition.

“He became upset and disruptive,” Fennell said of the defendant, “basically because (Fullerton) would not change his bond and release him (from prison).”

The task force on Monday filed its case against Glover stemming from the alleged Oct. 10 drug deal.

He is charged with delivery and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.

State police on Monday filed their own case against Glover, charging him with selling purported heroin to a 17-year-old boy, who subsequently overdosed Aug. 22 at an Oakland Township home. Toxicology reports later showed the substance was actually fentanyl and carfentanil, documents said. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is about 50 times stronger than heroin, and carfentanil is believed to be about 50 times more potent than fentanyl and is used as a tranquilizer for elephants

The boy was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for the overdose.

Glover is charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession. His planned arraignment Monday in that case was also canceled.

In still one more case, Glover is awaiting trial in connection with a drug arrest in Butler on Dec. 11, 2016. Butler police said they arrested Glover and another Allegheny County man following a traffic stop on Center Avenue.

Glover was later searched and found with $1,795 in currency. In his pockets, police said, he also had a small bag of marijuana and 10 pills of the psychoactive drug ecstasy.

While doing inventory of the car, according to court documents, police found a Mason jar containing 12 bags of marijuana and a plastic bottle with two marijuana buds in it. He is charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession in that case.
