The Butler Eagle sports department is seeking reader input for its weekly youth sports page, which will consist of subject matter pertaining to all youth sports.

Rachel Snyder of the Center Township No. 5 age 12-and-under girls softball team struck out 15 batters in a recent 6-2 victory over Center Township No. 2.No other pitcher has garnered that many strikeouts in a game in the Center Township slow-pitch softball league this season.Snyder has struck out nine, 11 and 13 batters in other games this year.Center Township No. 5 recently defeated West Sunbury No. 2 by a 13-10 count. Snyder homered and tripled in the game while Ahono Gildersleeve homered and Samantha Best tripled.Sydney Boben doubled and singled for West Sunbury. Ashley Brehm added two singles and Mariah Clark had three singles.

The Butler High School Youth Soccer Camp will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Butler County Soccer Association complex for players ages 5 to 12.Donation is $35 and players should bring a ball, water bottle and shin guards. Open gym for Butler seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 15 to 17 at the Butler Junior High gym.Tryouts will be held from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Aug. 22 to 24 at the gym.Players must have physicals dated after June 1 to participate.

Pickup recreational soccer games have been planned for boys and girls ages 7 to 17 beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Clay Township Park, Route 138 and Euclid School Road.Participants should bring gym shoes and water.
