The Pittsburgh Huskies Bantam AA hockey team captured the Festival of Lights Tournament championship in Niagara Falls, N.Y., last weekend.
In preliminary round action, the Huskies defeated Vaughn Ontario Rangers 7-1, Bud Bakewell Bruins 3-1 and Buffalo Bison 5-0 before defeating the Ajax Ontario Knights 4-0 in the championship game.
Goalie Clay Bachman stopped 74 of 76 shots (97.3 save percentage) in the four games.
Troy Double led the team with five goals, Shaun Welsh, Alex Welsh and Christian Miller added three apiece and Cam Lydick had two goals.
Other team members include Dustin Davis, Cody Krstonich, Eric Leya, Ethan Marie, Noah Moody, Dylan Rice, Matt Tomasovic and Nick Whann.
The Butler Catholic varsity defeated St. Mary's of Glenshaw in a pair of games Wednesday, including a 29-19 decision in the first contest.Derrick Andreassi had nine points and Tyler Protivnak added six points and 10 rebounds in game 1, while Chris Gamble had 10 points and five assists and Joe Farmer added eight points in the nightcap, a 33-15 victory,
