12:16 a.m. today — A passer-by reported seeing three men knock over a Butler Eagle vending box on North Main Street. Police caught up to the trio at Main and Jefferson streets, where one of the men admitted tipping over the box.The same suspect also said they knocked over a sign as well as three traffic cones at the construction site at East Wayne Street and Center Avenue. Police noted all three men appeared intoxicated.Charged in the case with public drunkenness, underage drinking and disorderly conduct are Jeremy Lee Allum, 19, and Michael H. Cervone, 20, both of Butler, and William Eugene Fair, 20, no known address.9:33 p.m. Saturday — Michael Allen Pintell, 23, of East Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck a truck parked on Second Street.A police report said officers smelled a "strong odor" of alcohol coming from Pintell, who was taken to the station for a breath test. However, he would not provide an adequate sample.Later, while walking to the lobby, where a friend was waiting to give him a ride home, Pintell argued with and directed obscenities at officers, the police report said.At one point the suspect moved close to one of the officers and allegedly clenched his fists, causing another officer to grab him and take him back to the holding cell.But, police said, Pintell began to resist and officers took him to the floor, placing him in the holding cell until he sobered up. During the struggle with the suspect, Sgt. William Mayhugh injured his right wrist.In addition to DUI, Pintell faces charges of disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, driving with a suspended license, careless driving and two other traffic violations.Friday — Police filed a theft charge against Samantha Marie Harold, 19, of Center Township, accusing her of taking a Butler woman's cell phone, valued at $330, between July 30 and Sept. 14.
2:39 a.m. Monday — A 48-year-old Lyndora man was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash on Armco Drive near Hansen Avenue.A passer-by happened upon David King, who was lying against a curb. Police said King apparently had lost control of his cycle on loose dirt and gravel and was thrown off the bike. He slid on the road about 15 feet before hitting a concrete curb.His condition at Allegheny General Hospital was not known this morning. Police said the accident investigation was continuing.3:30 p.m. Friday — Police were called to the Wal-Mart store in Butler Commons for a report of three women shoplifting. Charged with retail theft in the case are Stephanie M. Caccamo, 25, Tiffany R. Mullen, 21, and Christine M. Petrarulo, 24, all of Butler.
Friday — Jordan Ruddy, 22, of Grove City was arrested for a Sept. 12 break-in at the Medicine Shoppe, West Main Street. Ruddy was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass and criminal mischief, and placed in the Mercer County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
11 p.m. Monday — A car driven by William L. Henderson II, 29, of Rimersburg struck a guardrail on Route 68 near Front Street in Piney Township. Police said Henderson was cited for careless driving.
