Caroline R. Rekich

Caroline R. Rekich, 91, of Lyndora died Wednesday at Sunnyview Home in Butler.

Born June 1, 1916, in Lyndora, she was the daughter of Anton and Mary (Loknar) Yurkovich.

She worked as a secretary for the Croation Fraternal Union in Butler for more than 25 years until retiring.

She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora and more recently was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora, where she was also in the Ladies Guild.

Mrs. Rekich was a very devout Catholic and religious woman and was active in her church. She also was a playground supervisor at the Lyndora School.

Surviving are her son, George R. "Buddy" Rekich and his wife, Raylene, of Butler; five grandchildren, Dean E. Rekich and Mary Salony of Butler, Mrs. John (Kelly L.) Davis of Butler, Janeen Miller of Butler and Jaloyn and Trevor Fockler of Butler; three great-grandchildren, Michael Smith and Chase and Lydia Miller; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George S. "Juggsie" Rekich, who died Aug. 2, 1975; and her sister, Mary Mikrut.

<B>Rekich</B> — Friends of Caroline R. Rekich, who died June 27, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home,</B> 201 E. Cunningham St. in Butler. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 303 Penn Ave. in Lyndora with the Rev. George Palick, parochial vicar, officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Butler.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home to recite the rosary.
