School gets new principal

Crawford had been dean of students

CRANBERRY TWP — Luke Crawford has been named the new principal of Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School effective Thursday, according to Diocese of Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik.

Crawford has been the chairman of the school’s religion department and was the dean of students this past school year. He has worked in Catholic secondary education for eight years, seven of them at Quigley Catholic High School in Baden.

He is a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.

Crawford has “shown a profound commitment to the mission of Catholic education and to forming students who will become disciples of Jesus,” Zubik said in a news release.

Crawford is the third principal for the school, which just ended its first year.

He succeeds Ann Gaudino, who served during the 2014-2015 school year. Gaudino started in December, replacing Kellie Abbott, who was the principal from summer 2013 to October.

Also Nicholas Tisak has been hired as the assistant principal. He was an administrator in the Ambridge School District.

North Catholic had 300 students this past year, and it graduated 43 students last month.
