7:14 a.m. Thursday — Cars driven by Betty J. Paugh, 37, of Chicora and Paula L. Buzard, 47, of Butler collided at East Jefferson and Linden streets.Butler Twp Police8:45 a.m. Thursday — An unknown white female driving a sport utility vehicle struck another SUV on New Castle Road at the entrance to the Butler Crossing shopping plaza and did not stop.The suspect vehicle, a blue, 2005 to 2007 model Chevrolet Trailblazer, has damage to the front grill and right, front corner. It was last seen traveling through the parking lot toward the Wal-Mart store.John Gray, 60, of Monroeville, Allegheny County, was driving the silver SUV that was stuck in the crash.Police are reviewing surveillance video from surrounding businesses in hopes of identifying the hit-and-run driver. 11:07 p.m. Wednesday — Two people were hurt in a hit-and-run crash on Bonniebrook Road near Herman Road in Summit Township.The wreck happened when a pickup truck driven by Justin L. Schnur, 29, of Butler rear-ended another pickup driven by Willie S. Guy, 41, of Butler. Guy's truck rolled over.Guy and his passenger, Christopher Morefield, 27, of Ford City, Armstrong County, suffered minor to moderate injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.Police said that although the collision disabled a front, passenger side tire and wheel on Schnur's pickup, he managed to drive away north on Bonnniebrook Road.But a mile later mechanical problems caused him to abandon the truck in a yard in the 700 block of Bonnieboork Road, and police say he fled on foot.He was arrested Thursday and placed in the Butler County Prison on a probation violation.4:18 p.m. Wednesday — A previously reported stolen vehicle was recovered on Creek Road in Forward Township. Mountain Top Excavation of Cranberry Township owns the vehicle.12:48 a.m. Wednesday — A burglar used an unlocked garage door to break into a home on Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township.
Thursday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement reported that a par of bars in Butler and Clarion counties recently were cited for allegedly violating the state liquor law.Rock Ann Haven on 141 Greenwood Drive, Butler Township, is charged with a loudspeaker violation and Chug’s Car and Grill in Route 68, Rimersburg, is charged with permitting smoking in a public place.The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who can impose penalties.
