Ethel I. McKee

Ethel Irene Wagner McKee, 96, of Worthington went to be with her Lord and Savoir on Tuesday at ACMH Hospital, Kittanning.

Born May 7, 1910, in the family home near Rural Valley, she was the daughter of Wallace W. and Elise Irene Schrecengost Wagner.

At 14, she began doing housework for area families. Later she moved to Worthington, where she worked for Mrs. Sutton, the Worthington post mistress.

While helping at the post office, she met her future husband, Thomas C. McKee, a mail carrier. They were married April 14, 1931, and moved to the farm of Raymond L. and Margaret Henry McKee, now known as Century Hill Farm, where they raised their family.

Mrs. McKee enjoyed her church, Franklin Union Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for a number years and was a member of the Women's Missionary Society.

She also enjoyed quilting, cooking and gardening. In her later years, she enjoyed television, reading her Bible and the visits from her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and friends.

Surviving are four sons, Craig McKee of Worthington, the Rev. Dean McKee and his wife, Shirley, of Kittanning, James McKee and his wife, Luana, of Worthington, and Jack McKee and his wife, Judy, of Montrose; two daughters, Mrs. Perry (Violet) Ray of Butler and Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Elder of Enon Valley; 27 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers, Owen, Roy, Russell, Ray and Clair Wagner; and three sisters, Leola Bole, Ivy Hall and Luella Peterman.

<B>MCKEE </B>— Friends of Ethel Irene Wagner McKee, who died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>F. Duane Snyder funeral Home</B>, 424 Bear St., Worthington. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Franklin Union Baptist Church, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Hall officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
