Vincent L. Farnen
Vincent L. Farnen, 83, of Butler went to be with the Lord and join the love of his life, his wife Dorothy, at 10:52 p.m. Friday at UPMC Presbyterian as a result of a fall at home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1924, in East Butler, the son of the late Harry Doran Farnen and the late Annie (Kinney) Farnen.
He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church; the Knights of Columbus, where he was a past grand Knight; the VFW Post 249; the East Butler Fire Department; and the Cana Club.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and received his 1944 diploma at the graduating ceremony for honorably discharged veterans.
He loved to play cards, go to garage sales and write poetry, but he especially loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
Surviving are five daughters, Sandy L. Christy of Butler, Mrs. Dr. Carmen (Cheri) Cagno of New Castle, Mrs. Rick (Cindy) Tracey of Sutton, Ontario, Canada, Mrs. Denny (Debby) Hawks of Butler and Mrs. Tom (Tammy) Carter of Keswick, Ontario, Canada; 16 grandchildren, Mrs. Freddie (Diane) Janes, Mrs. Orlando (Rayan) Coffee, Mrs. Rob (Kim) Burch, Keith Wilson and his wife, Crista, Kert Wilson and his wife, Amy, Mrs. Chris (Keri) Sands, Mrs. Lee (Jennifer) Rabi, Mrs. Mark (Jeanine) Zeigler, Mrs. Rick (Katrina) Hafenbredl, Mrs. Patrick (Carissa) Douglas, Mrs. Chris (Taunia) Borsellino, Tyler Tracey, Mrs. Greg (Dacey) Mealey, Dan Hawks and his wife, Denise, Elisabeth Carter and Joshua Carter; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorathy Grace (Mitchell) Farnen, who died Feb. 21, 2007; two sisters; four brothers; and a granddaughter.
<B>FARNEN</B> — Friends of Vincent L. Farnen, who died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday the St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Ext., with Father James Salberg officiating.
