Pa. ranks 12th in nation for 1st vaccine doses

Butler Health System has announced new hours of operation for its COVID-19 testing site at 304 Delwood Road. Beginning April 5, hours of operation will be weekdays from noon to 4 p.m. A physician's order is required to be tested.

Pennsylvania ranks 12th in the country in the percent of residents who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The ranking came in a report on Monday about how the states stack up, from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Percentages weren't provided, but the department reported 3,204,858 at least partial vaccinations have been administered to the 12.8 million state residents. The number of full vaccinations is 1,751,415, and the total number of vaccinations administered is 4,956,257.

In the county, 23,528 people are partially vaccinated and 36,276 people are fully vaccinated among the population of 183,800.

The number of new cases in the county increased by 85 over the weekend, reaching 9,587 Monday. No new deaths were reported.

Statewide, 7,178 new cases reported Saturday and Sunday and 2,923 new cases Monday increased the total to 1,015,268 since the beginning of the pandemic.

There are 1,856 people hospitalized, including 366 patients in intensive care. The 14-day average number of people hospitalized per day is about 4,500 lower than it was at the peak in December 2020 and is below what it was at the height of the spring peak in May 2020. However, the moving average of number of hospitalized patients has started to increase.

The department reported 33 new deaths Friday, 15 Saturday and 14 Sunday for 62 across the state over the weekend, bringing the total to 25,015 since the pandemic began.

In licensed nursing and personal care homes, 69,183 residents and 14,198 employees have the coronavirus. Of the total deaths in the state, 12,908 have been residents of nursing or personal care facilities.
