Legislative Roundup: Legislation sponsored by Butler County’s delegation to state General Assembly in the 2nd quarter of 2026
Here’s a look at legislation introduced by Butler County’s delegation to the state General Assembly over the last three months:
Vogel, along with Sen. Frank Farry, R-6th, has a co-sponsorship memorandum circulating for a piece of legislation that has not yet been introduced aiming to increase penalties for companies or government agencies that allow their trains to block roads for an unreasonable amount time from the current $25 fine on second and subsequent offenses.
He was also the sponsor of a resolution designating May 14, 2026, as IgA Nephropathy (IgAN) Awareness Day in Pennsylvania; and another resolution the month of June 2026 as Dairy Month in Pennsylvania.
Bonner, along with Rep. Tim Briggs, D-149th, is the primary sponsor of HR 519, a resolution directing the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing to conduct a study on the setting of bail and pretrial release conditions and present recommendations from the study to the state House of Representatives. The resolution would require a report be submitted to the speaker, majority leader and minority leader of the House and the majority and minority chairperson of the House Judiciary Committee within two years.
Bonner also has a co-sponsorship memorandum circulating for a piece of legislation that has not yet been introduced aiming to update the Pennsylvania Peer Review Protections Act, which provides protections for those involved in the medical peer review process. According to the memorandum, the legislation would clarify definitions, modernize language and align the law with the state Supreme Court ruling in Leadbitter v. Keystone.
Mustello is the primary sponsor of HB 2432, which would update the state Small Games of Chance Act. Updates would include increases to prize limits, clarifying usage of space for auxiliary groups, decrease the time between application for a license and approval, increase limits for special permits and modify the distribution of proceeds.
Mustello is also a sponsor — along with Reps. Mike Armanini, R-75th, Emily Kinkead, D-20th, Eddie Pahinski, D-121st, Lisa Borowski, D-168th, and Justin Fleming, D-105th — of a piece of legislation that has not yet been introduced which would move the line item supporting organizations that address domestic violence from the state Department of Human Services to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
State Sen. Scott Hutchinson, R-21st, and state Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-8th, introduced no new legislation this quarter, according to information listed on the General Assembly’s website.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives 12th District seat is currently open pending a special election scheduled Aug. 18. The winner will hold the seat until the end of the year, the remainder of the current term, when the winner of the November general election race for the district will be seated for a full two-year term. The seat was vacated earlier this year when former state Rep. Stephenie Scialabba resigned.
