Albert M. “Bill” Lauffer, 101, died on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Butler, and had recently resided at New Haven Court Senior Community.

As a young man, he served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.He was employed as an industrial engineer for many years with Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp.In retirement, he remained active as a tipstaff at the Butler County Courthouse.Along with his wife, Gracia, Bill was an enthusiastic supporter of the Butler community. As a young man, he enjoyed participating in the Butler Little Theatre.He served as exalted ruler of the Butler Elks Club. He was a member of the Butler Masonic Lodge.He was a longtime member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, where he served as a vestry member.An avid tennis player, Bill continued to sport a good game into his 80s. He like sailing at Moraine, and pursued golf and bowling on various teams.He was a reader, liked history as well as politics, and enjoyed discussing the latest news events.Always a man with a project, Bill relaxed by fixing and building. His proudest achievement was building a log home, where he and his wife lived and entertained in retirement.He is survived by two daughters, Martha (Bert) Manzato and Sally (Gary) Ellison; a grandson, John (Sherri) Ellison; and a great-granddaughter, Skylyn Ellison.He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracia; a grandson, Joshua Lauffer Ellison; and a son-in-law, Bert Manzato.LAUFFER — Arrangements for Albert M. “Bill” Lauffer, who died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, are under the direction of Young Funeral Home, Butler.For more information, go to www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
