Dorothy C. Krause
Dorothy C. Krause, 88, of Fenelton, formerly of Chicora, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
She was born in Chicora on Oct. 29, 1919, the daughter of Thomas L. and Mary M. Graham Double.
She worked at Harold's Dairy Store in Butler for years and then worked at the Spade Shirt Factory in Butler in the late 1930s until 1948. She delivered the Butler Eagle in the Fenelton Area for 11 years.
She was a 4-H leader in Fenelton for years and was a 4-H member when it celebrated its 100th anniversary in Butler where the Old Butler Fairgrounds used to be. That is now the site of Butler High School.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, McKee Chapel, near Fenelton.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Walker, and her husband, Theodore, of Fenelton; two grandchildren, Lynn Marie Walker of Butler and Kevin Walker of Fenelton; four great-grandchildren, Marshall Protzman, Destony and Daisy Walker, and Skaylor Harman all of Fenelton; three nieces, Darlene, Marlene and Carlene; three nephews, Tom, Dennis and Jeff Double; and several stepnieces and stepnephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett H. Krause, whom she married June 11, 1948, and who died Sept. 27, 1957. She also is preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Double and Betty Callihan; and two brothers, Raymond and Robert Double.
<B>KRAUSE</B> — Friends of Dorothy C. Krause, who died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>STEIGHNERFUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeremy Andrews, pastor of United Methodist Church, McKee Chapel, officiating.
