Cranberry Sunrise Rotary chooses president
Karen Newpol, who has served Cranberry Sunrise Rotary as both treasurer and secretary, has been elected club president for 2022-23.
The Cranberry Township resident has been a Rotarian for six years and is a 2016 recipient of the Rotarian of the Year Award, according to a club news release.
Rotary District 7280 named Newpol the Person of Action Award winner in 2021.
Her goals for Cranberry Sunrise Rotary surround the Rotary’s 2022-23 presidential theme — Imagine Rotary — which urges individuals to dream big and harness their connections and strength as well as the power of Rotary to turn their visions to realities.
Newpol also plans to pursue an initiative to erect a “peace pole” at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center on Sept. 21, which is International Day of Peace.
She has served on the Cranberry Community Chest board of directors since 2010, has been race director for the 5K Community Chase since 2012, and serves as chaplain at the Cranberry Elks Club, where she has been a member since 2017 and received the Officer of the Year Award in 2021.
Newpol also has served as president of Women’s Business Network, where she has been a member since 2018. She organized a fashion show titled Living in Liberty for the network.
Newpol, who has three grown children with her husband, Rich, is a familiar face in the Cranberry Township area, where she has provided leadership for Scout troops, North Pittsburgh Youth Hockey Association Wildcats and her homeowners’ association.
She is a member of Butler County Republicans and is sound engineer for the S’Wearing Hats band.
Newpol earned a graphic design degree from Butler County Community College and has used her skills to design covers and pages for several local magazines.
She was formerly employed as a graphic artist for the Cranberry Eagle and taught web design at BC3 in addition to operating her custom art framing studio, FRAMED.
Newpol enjoys running and has completed three marathons.
