Cranberry boy in tennis nationals

Jonathan Perkins of Cranberry Township is a member of the Pittsburgh squad that will compete at the USTA Junior Team Tennis Advanced 14-and-Under National Championship, held today through Sunday in Mobile, Ala.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A team from Pittsburgh, including Jonathan Perkins of Cranberry Township, will join tennis teams from around the country as they compete for a national title at the 2009 USTA Junior Team Tennis Advanced 14 and Under National Championships, which are being held today through Sunday in Mobile, Ala.

Other members of the Pittsburgh team, which is representing the USTA's Middle States Section are:

Megan Adamo of Upper St. Clair, Adam Blasinsky of Gibsonia, Abby Cummings of Venetia, Nicole Cyterski of Pittsburgh, Callie Frey, Peter Hazlett and David Mewkalo of Mount Lebanon, Kylie Isaacs of Wexford and Caleb Troy of Bethel Park.

Junior Team Tennis is a tennis league for ages 6-18. It was established in 1991 to provide youth with all of the health and social benefits of tennis in a coed, fun and competitive team environment. Junor Team Tennis allows participants to compete with and against individuals of similar skill and age levels.

Players participate in a league format administered and run by the U.S. Tennis Association and its 17 Sections.
