11:48 p.m. Thursday — Cars driven by Rae Weitzel, 45, of Center Township and Rachel Boychuck, 31, of Butler collided at East Jefferson and North McKean streets. Boychuck suffered minor injuries.3:49 p.m. Thursday — A Butler man was arrested for allegedly trading in stolen meat.A resident in the city's Island section called authorities to report a suspicious man "trying to sell meat out of two plastic bags," according to a police report.Officers spotted the suspect, David Francis Blake, 40, of Clearfield Township, who took off running but was caught a short time later. Police said he was intoxicated when nabbed.Police, meanwhile, recovered the meat, which the defendant allegedly had placed behind a home on Wayne Street. The meat, valued at $210, had been earlier stolen from Miller's Quality Meats on North Main Street.Blake was arraigned on charges of retail theft, receiving stolen property and public drunkenness, and placed n the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail as well as for a warrant in Armstrong County.Court records showed that Kittanning police on June 16 were issued an arrest warrant for the defendant in connection with a case of theft by deception.1:31 p.m. Thursday — William M. Schantz, 41, of Butler was picked up — literally — for public intoxication after police found him passed out and laying partially in the road under the General Butler Bridge. A police report said Schantz was "highly intoxicated" and "very disoriented." He was taken to the police station and cited for public drunkenness. Police allowed the suspect to leave once he sobered up.11:02 a.m. Thursday — William A. Nagle, 48 was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife during a domestic dispute at their East Penn Street home. Nagle was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,000 bail. The alleged victim, who as not identified in a police report, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries.5:14 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Heather Heath, 23, and a pickup truck driven by Mark Timblin, 34, both of Butler collided on Zeigler Avenue.
1:45 a.m. today — Robert C. Gould, 46, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck a guardrail on Route 68 near O'Donnell Road in Donegal Township. Gould, who suffered a minor injury, told police the crash occurred when he swerved his car to avoid a deer in the road.12:30 p.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Nicholas A. Glasser, 19, of Cranberry Township struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.5:10 p.m. Wednesday — A Butler woman reported that an unknown man assaulted her with pepper spray at the Clearview Mall parking lot in front of the Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Center Township. The woman said after being sprayed in the face she fell to her knees and yelled for help. She said the man ran toward the mall entrance.Police described the suspect as white and in his early 20s. He wore a light gray T-shirt. Police noted that the assailant may have been with two other males at the time.
